Scott Lee Cohen says the Illinois Democratic Party needs some work.

Cohen won the party’s nomination for Lieutenant Governor in last week’s primary, but he dropped out of the race after Democratic leaders asked him not to run. That was after a slew of accusations came out against him, including domestic violence and steroid use.

Despite the recent drama surrounding his nomination, Cohen says he still considers himself a Democrat.

COHEN: People in the State of Illinois elected me and the Democratic Party kind of hung me out to dry. That’s not very democratic of them.

The Democratic State Central Committee will now decide who will replace Cohen in the general election.
