A 27-year-old man was denied bond by a Cook County bond court judge Thursday as he faces charges for shooting two police officers earlier this week. Cook County State’s Attorney spokeswoman Lisa Gordon said Thursday prosecutors are charging 27-year-old Daniel Jones with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer.

The Chicago Police Department said the officers were shot as they tried to interview a man on the city’s West Side Monday night. One of the officers suffered a gunshot wound to his head. The other was shot in the arm and had a bullet graze his head. Both are expected to recover.
