Good morning!

Welcome to this edition of the Morning Drive Podcast! In this episode, we’ll look into whether the Chicago housing Authority is keeping to it’s mixed-income promises, and we’ll look ahead at what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Today’s news:

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn announced he’s taking a trip to Brazil this weekend on a trade mission to help strengthen exports and boost tourism in Illinois.

A federal grand jury has indicted an Illinois man accused of trying to ignite what he thought was a car bomb outside a Chicago bar.

It’s being called the Great Balloon Mystery. An unidentified flying object was set off from Chicago’s South Side and ended up miles away in a northern Indiana town and onto Robert Tibbs’ farm.

And your WEATHER for today: Mostly cloudy, chance of showers late in the morning and possibly in the afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 60s, chance of precipitation 60 percent. Tonight, mostly cloudy, showers likely in the evening. Lows in the mid 40s - really chilly out there. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

Saturday, partly sunny, showers likely in the morning, breezy, highs in the lower 60s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent. Then Saturday night, mostly clear, lows in the upper 30s - can you believe that? Lower 40s downtown, with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour through the evening.

Sunday could be the nicest day - mostly sunny, highs in the upper 50s. Sunday night, clear, lows in the lower 40s.

And music in today’s podcast brought to you by Bloc Party. They’re scheduled to play the Riviera Theatre tonight.

Other things to check out this weekend: Our own Tony Sarabia will be hosting a live broadcast of Radio M from the Mayne Stage as part of the World Music Festival. Or you can check out a new exhibit at the Field Museum about the history of Chicago fashion designer Maria Pinto. Apparently there’s a rain coat made of seal intestines.
