The Bloomingdale Trail becomes ‘The 606'

This summer, the city will begin converting the abandoned, century-old elevated Bloomingdale rail line into an active, linear park that will run from Humboldt Park to Bucktown. Final plans for the project that were made public this week included changing the name of the 2.7-mile-long park from 'The Bloomingdale Trail' to ‘The 606.' We take a look at The 606 with Beth White from the Trust for Public Land and Matt Gordon of Landor Associates, the marketing firm behind the project's name change. The construction of this $91 million public-private project was a campaign promise Rahm Emanuel made during his 2011 mayoral run. (Photo: Flickr/David B. Gleason)
