Federal courts clash over Obamacare subsidies

In the latest legal challenge to healthcare reform, this morning the U-S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia delivered a potentially devastating blow to the Affordable Care Act. In a 2-1 ruling the panel discarded an IRS provision that allows the federal government to provide subsidies to people enrolled in federal exchanges. The ruling could increase healthcare costs for millions of Americans. But hours after the DC panel's ruling, the Fourth Circuit ruled in favor of the administration. Steve Schwinn, an associate professor at the John Marshall Law School, joins to sort out the rulings and what they mean for Illinois. Photo Courtesy of Flickr/ KCCI
