SHARE Four children killed in "suspicious" fire in Roseland

Four children died and two adults were injured in a fire in Roseland early this morning. The building has failed more than 20 inspections since 2006. The most recent inspection on June 9th, found 17 violations including missing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Ald. Anthony Beale of the ninth ward, where the building in the 112th block of South Vernon is located, discusses the fire which he calls "suspicious" and his plan to address the neighborhood's fire safety issues.
