SHARE Proposed hotel in Chatham is drawing controversy

Residents in Chatham are divided on whether or not a proposed hotel in the South Side neighborhood is a good choice to boost economic development in the area. The land for the site, in the 7600 block of South State Street, has been vacant for decades. The owner, who has owned other two other motels in the city, says this community is ripe for the development. Wendell Hutson, a reporter for DNAinfo.com Chicago, was at a recent community meeting where residents and the alderman discussed the proposal. He joins the conversation.
