Diving into the dark and gritty world of Chicago noir

The setting is the Loop on an ominous night. Someone scurries down an alleyway, and a young but driven female detective goes to investigate. It’s dark. It’s cryptic. It’s noir. Today we were inspired by Sara Paretsky’s Indemnity Only. Neal Pollack is a former crime reporter for the Chicago Reader and the Editor of Chicago Noir an anthology of short stories based in Chicago. He joins us on the line to discuss noir fiction in Chicago, it's history, and what’s going on now in the genre. Photo Courtesy of Flickr/ PELLESTEN
