#HandsUpDontShoot protests in Chicago's Loop

SHARE #HandsUpDontShoot protests in Chicago's Loop

As you’ve been hearing on WBEZ, protests over the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown at the hands of police continue today in Chicago. This weekend, several churches are planning walkouts after Sunday service. It’s something we saw earlier this week when the students at the Lutheran School of Theology in Hyde Park walked out of school. When a grand jury decided not to indict the white NYPD officer who killed Eric Garner, who was black and unarmed, people took to the streets all over the country. In New York, thousands flooded Times Square and Grand Central Station, and here in Chicago, they temporarily shut down Lake Shore Drive and other streets in the Loop. That’s where WBEZ’s Chip Mitchell is right now, following the latest protest.
