Carpentersville Vote Tonight

SHARE Carpentersville Vote Tonight

Last month, the small northwestern Chicago suburb of Hampshire, Illinois became the first municipality in the state to adopt English as its official language.

But it may not be the last.

Tonight the board of the nearby suburb of Carpentersville will consider its own Official English proposal.

Carpentersville made headlines last fall when it considered a proposed ordinance that would've outlawed employing or renting to undocumented immigrants.

The village board put that plan on hold.

But it looks like the English proposal may have enough support to pass tonight.

Joining us is Chicago Public Radio's Chip Mitchell.
