Illinois House Check-In

SHARE Illinois House Check-In

We're broadcasting from the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield today where lawmakers are trying to wrap up their spring legislative business before a midnight deadline tonight.

Some are clamoring for millions of dollars for schools, health care and mass transit.

Others are pushing for electric rate relief, ethics reform and changes to the criminal code.

Last night, the House passed legislation that would address some of those matters.

But more work remains to be done.

And that work becomes much more difficult for Democrats if they don't wrap up their business before a deadline tonight at midnight.

Here to talk more about the issues and politics in play are two key members of the House: Democrat Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie of Chicago and Republican Minority Leader Tom Cross of Oswego.
