SHARE Priorities in the Illinois Senate

You know it's going to be a long night when a pair of legislative pages rolls a cart piled high with dozens of pizzas onto the floor of the Illinois House

That's just what happened as the House approved a last minute budget proposal just before midnight.

The deal moves lawmakers a step closer to wrapping up their legislative business before tonight's midnight deadline.

But it's a long way from what the Governor proposed and many others have been expecting.

And the stakes couldn't be higher.

The outcome of the spring legislative session could affect everything from schools to electric rates to mass transit riders.

So today we're broadcasting from the Illinois State Capitol to bring you the latest on the last minute maneuvering

All eyes are on the Senate today as that chamber takes up the House budget proposal, along with hundreds of other pieces of legislation.

Joining us are two key leaders of the Senate Appropriations Committee: Democratic Chairman Donne Trotter of Chicago and Republican Christine Radogno of La Grange.
