Illinois lawmakers are back in Springfield today—and their time ain't cheap. An Associated Press analysis puts the price tag for this week's special session at about 80,000 bucks. And the legislators themselves say they're not sure they'll be getting much work done on the $59 billion budget. Governor Rod Blagojevich has asked the House to approve a capital spending plan and more funding to plug a budget hole in the next two days. But many House members call those ideas non-starters. So what exactly are they all doing down there? With some answers, Illinois Public Radio's Sean Crawford joins us now from Springfield.
