The struggle to overcome personal demons is a theme that runs through classic literature from Macbeth to Moby Dick. In Chicago, that theme emerges in the dance world with two shows opening up on the same day, in the same building. One is a freshened-up take on a well-known cautionary tale, and the other a somewhat dark, post-modern spin on a usually-upbeat form. Eight Forty-Eight dance critic Lucia Mauro says the new production of Faust by Chicago Dance Crash brings welcome energy to the old story.
