ACLU Asks Governor to Stop Racial Profiling

Yesterday, civil rights groups delivered a letter to Governor Rod Blagojevich, asking him to issue an executive order to stop the so-called “consent searches.” When the Illinois State Police conduct routine traffic stops, Latino drivers are twice as likely as whites to have their cars searched. African-Americans have their cars searched even more, according to an annual state study.
