Jazz Guitarist Bobby Broom

Bobby Broomwas 19 when he joined Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. He's played with Miles, Stanley Turrentine, and Charles Earland. He's the regular guitarist for the great Sonny Rollins and the founder of Deep Blue Organ Trio. And that just scratches the surface of his resume. Broom is a ‘player' who's made Chicago his home for 24 years. And he's got a new CD out, called The Way I Play. The tracks were recorded with his trio live at Pete Miller's Steakhouse in Evanston, where he's the regular Wednesday night attraction. Listen to the flying fingers of Bobby Broom on the Charlie Parker classic “Donna Lee.”

You can catch Broom at Pete Miller's in Evanston just about any Wednesday night, and he'll be on stage alongside Sonny Rollins in 2 weeks at this year's Chicago Jazz Festival.
