SHARE Chicago Dance Festivals

From a benefit that raises funds for HIV/AIDS care to a festival that brings in top talent from across the country, local dance fans have lots of choices this week. The Chicago Dancing Festival, Dancing in the Park, and Dance for Life all offer a little something for everyone. Eight Forty-Eight dance critic Lucia Mauro says the Chicago Dancing Festival provides the opportunity to look at some historic companies and pieces, with an opening night performance devoted to 20th Century masters.

The Chicago Dancing Festival gets underway tonight at the Harris Theater, and runs through August 20. Dancing in the Park takes place today and Wednesday at different spots around Millennium Park. And Dance for Life also takes place at the Harris Theatre, that show is on August 23.
