Connecting the Dots in Chicago

SHARE Connecting the Dots in Chicago

Chicago is a hotbed of local privatization. So says the Reason Foundation, which earlier this month published its 22nd annual Privatization Report. This free-market “think tank” lauds the city government's ability to save taxpayer money by leasing the Skyway and parking garages, and possibly Midway airport, parking meters, and recycling facilities.

But Tom Tresser says Chicago's great leap into privatization isn't something to be so proud of—and that taxpayers should be wary. Tresser's the president of “Protect Our Parks,” the organization which has been fighting the privatization of soccer fields in Lincoln Park.

And he recently started a blog called Connecting the Dots on the Huffington Post's new Chicago outlet. Tresser says the point he's trying to make in his blog is multi-layered.
