Video still by Greg Scott

A visit to Cicero Ave. on Chicago's West Side might raise some eyebrows with our more street savvy listeners. At any hour of any day women in tight skirts and bright lipstick are aggressively looking for “dates.” For the past few months, sociologist Greg Scott has pulled back the veil of the underground economy that's run by pimps, drug dealers and prostitutes in Chicago. In this installment of The Brickyard: Stories of Addiction and Redemption, we explore the role of sex and pride in that world.
Please be warned that this report includes graphic descriptions of sexual acts and drug use.
Next month we'll bring you a special segment with residents of the Brickyard in our studio to take your calls.
