Earlier this week, excerpts from a 2001 Chicago Public Radio interview with Sen. Obama caused a bit of an internet stir. The Obama campaign countered that the interview is being misinterpreted. But whether it's “Joe the Plumber” or clips from an academic conversation on the Supreme Court and the Civil Rights Era, Republicans are jumping on the chance to label Obama as a socialist. David Leonhardt profiled Obama's economics for an August article in the New York Times Magazine. He says Obama's economic vision is actually more right-wing than most people realize. He says it's also more left-wing. David Leonhardt joins us now to explain that paradox.
