Stroger Responds to Critics

SHARE Stroger Responds to Critics

The Cook County Board of Commissioners met yesterday with President Todd Stroger. The word is, discussions of Stroger’s proposed budget got a little contentious. There's little surprise there.

When Commissioner Forrest Claypool spoke with us on the show yesterday, he criticized Stroger's plan to borrow $740 million to get things in balance.

We caught up with Board President Stroger ourselves, yesterday. He says the sales tax increase passed in the 2008 budget is still funding costs for 2008, and the bond issues he's proposing are also for costs already approved by the board.
