Trib Editor Kern Sheds Light on the Complaint

SHARE Trib Editor Kern Sheds Light on the Complaint

The 76-page affidavit alleging the crimes of Governor Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff John Harris is light on specific names, other than theirs. Most of the other “side players” are given pseudonyms like “Deputy Governor A” and “Senate Candidate 1,” leaving many observers to speculate on the identity of the characters who may, or may not, have cooperated with the Governor.

Two names that were not redacted are those of the Chicago Tribune and Editorial Page editor John McCormick. Blagojevich is charged with trying to get McCormick fired by threatening Tribune Company executives by suggesting that the State would withhold assistance to the struggling media conglomerate. We spoke with Tribune editor Gerald Kern.
