When it comes to “fixing” public transportation, the solution generally comes down to throwing some last-minute cash at the problem. But local transit advocates have long argued for more systemic changes like not relying on sales tax and real estate transfer taxes for funding. And lots of folks are thinking even bigger. Aaron Renn is an urban planning and transportation expert and blogger who calls himself “the Urbanophile.” He recently won a competition for ideas to revamp Chicago transit and he's met a number of times with top CTA officials.
