Chicago Tribune columnist Mary Schmich has been watching the demolition of public housing from her window. In 2008, she wrote about the meaning of home.

During "Eight Forty-Eight's" Mayor Monday look at housing in Chicago, the show revisited her reflective essay which proved just as timely and poignant today.
