Chicago may be known as the home of deep-dish pizza, the blues, and modern architecture. But did you know that it is also an international dance capital? It turns out a lot of famous dances were created in the city’s clubs and on its streets.
Curious City dug into Chicago’s dance history after receiving a question from a couple of teenagers: What dances were invented in Chicago?
Join us on Saturday, August 24 as we take Chicago dances to the big stage with the creators and pioneers of Polka Hop, el Pasito Duranguense, and Footwork. Attendees will hear the origin stories of each dance and learn some of the basic moves.
