Join Chicago Ideas & WBEZ for a screening of the film Contact, followed by a Q&A with WBEZ's Nerdette podcast and the SETI Institute's Jill Tarter, who is the basis for Jodie Foster's character in the film.

On Wednesday, May 10 join Chicago Ideas and WBEZ for a screening of the 1997 smash hit film Contact at Chicago's Logan Theatre. The film—which was written by Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan—was based on the work of Jill Tarter of the SETI Institute and is played by the iconic Jodie Foster.

The screening will feature free popcorn and soda for attendees and, after the movie ends, there will be a Q&A between Tarter and Tricia Bobeda and Greta Johnson of WBEZ's Nerdette podcast. Tarter will be in Conversation at Chicago Ideas' event The Future of Intelligence: Human, Machine and Extraterrestrial the following night where she'll discuss the future of the planet Earth alongside Dartmouth professor Marcelo Gleiser and philosopher Patricia Churchland.

Nerdette podcast features interviews with your favorite authors, artists, astronauts and more. Because everybody is a little nerdy about something.
