NPR’s Pop Culture Happy Hour is hitting the road and stopping in Chicago! In partnership with WBEZ as a part of the Podcast Passport Series, Pop Culture Happy Hour will take the stage for a live show at Harris Theatre on April 12. The first Midwest show in the podcast’s history will feature host Linda Holmes, panelists Stephen Thompson and Glen Weldon as well as special VIPs, including Sam Sanders, formerly of the NPR Politics Podcast, and W. Kamau Bell, critically acclaimed sociopolitical comedian and host of Emmy Award-nominated CNN docu-series United Shades of America.

Musical guests, Mucca Pazza will also be in attendance! Fresh off their West Coast tour, the 30 piece marching band "Mucca Pazza" will cap off the live show with their token blend of powerful music and delightful theatricality captured in this unforgettable Tiny Desk Concert filmed at NPR.

Pop Culture Happy Hour is a lively chat about books, movies, music, television, comics and pretty much anything else that strikes a nerve, all in a weekly roundtable from NPR. Features "Monkey See" blogger Linda Holmes, panelists Stephen Thompson and Glen Weldon, and an occasionally rowdy cast of characters.

MUCCA PAZZA assembled itself in a steel mill parking lot along the Chicago river. Combining marching band traditions and street theater experience with rock band sensibilities, Mucca Pazza quickly found a home for its 30-odd members in the thriving Chicago underground music scene. Their eccentric, frenetic visual presence, and genre-bending original compositions earned them critical praise and a loyal local following. They ahve appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, WFMU, and the Kentucky Derby, as well as supporting major national acts and performing at numerous national music festivals like Lollapalooza, Lincoln Center’s Out of Doors and the Montreal Jazz Fest.

W. Kamau Bell is the co-host of “Politically Re-Active” podcast, a sociopolitical comedian, author and up and coming TV star. His new book is called The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell: Tales of a 6' 4", African American, Heterosexual, Cisgender, Left-Leaning, Asthmatic, Black and Proud Blerd, Mama's Boy, Dad, and Stand-Up Comedian.
