Join WBEZ Chicago for a signature Podcast Passport event with the makers of the award winning Serial podcast. Currently in its third season, Serial is a podcast from the creators of This American Life that has won every major award for broadcasting including duPont-Columbia, Scripps Howard, Edward R. Murrow, and the first-ever Peabody awarded podcast.
At this event, Serial host Sarah Koenig and reporter Emmanuel Dzotsi will take you behind the scenes of the ordinary Cleveland court cases that Season 3 explores and the stories they followed outside the courthouse, into neighborhoods, people's homes, and prison. In conversation with WBEZ anchor Jenn White, Sarah, and Emmanuel will discuss how justice is calculated in cases of all sizes in Cleveland, the parallels between the Cleveland and Chicago court systems, and what they learned about the broader criminal justice system through their reporting.
