Several hundred officers stood outside Chicago Police headquarters as protesters hurled insults and spoke about change. The officers, wearing riot helmets, held batons but did not engage.

Earlier, the protesters stopped for eight seconds of silence for George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer put his knee in Floyd’s neck for eight minutes during an arrest.

About the same time, a caravan of hundreds of cars arrived, many with passengers holding signs denouncing police brutality.

Correction: A Minneapolis police officer was seen on video with his knee on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes.
