Kurt Vile performs in an L Session

Kurt Vile is a Philidelphia singer-songwriter who released his Matador records debut, Childish Prodigy, in 2009 to much acclaim. His psych-rock music has been compared to Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. Like those rock legends, Vile’s songs can run the gamut. Many of his best-known songs are radio-friendly summer jams, but he does hushed fingerstyle songs as well as evidenced in “I Wanted Everything,” a song released on 7" vinyl in January 2010. We caught up with Vile at the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival where he performed that tune for us under the CTA’s Green Line.
