It used to be that food banks in Alaska had a hard time getting fresh produce, while food banks in Idaho were swimming in potatoes. Then some economists got involved. Their big idea: The free market.

A while back, the charity Feeding America was a mess. It was sending pickles to food banks that wanted produce, and potatoes to Idaho. So they called some economists, and a free food market was born.
