CHICAGO (March 16, 2023) – WBEZ Chicago and the University Club of Chicago are thrilled to present An Evening with Tom Hanks: In Conversation with Peter Sagal, coming May 10 to the historic Auditorium Theatre to celebrate the debut novel by legendary actor and best-selling author, Tom Hanks.

Hanks will be joined by Sagal, host of NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me, for a conversation about The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece. In his debut novel, Hanks explores the making of a star-studded multimillion-dollar superhero action film … and the humble comic books that inspired it. It’s funny, touching, and wonderfully thought-provoking, while also capturing the changes in America and American culture since World War II.

Tickets to this event include a copy of The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece. This program is presented in partnership with The Book Stall. Event details:

“As a globally beloved entertainer,” said Sagal. “I feel a responsibility to use my fame to bring attention to lesser known artists, such as this very promising first time novelist, Mr Hanks. I’m very flattered to know that so many of my fans wanted to come to hear me conduct a literary discussion that we had to rent the Auditorium Theatre to hold them all.”
