Defanging Dodd-Frank

"We're going to be doing a big number on Dodd-Frank" President Donald Trump promised in January. Now, House Republicans have proposed legislation to do just that. The Financial CHOICE Act would roll back banking regulations put in place by the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, and it could also spell the end of a key part of the act, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The GOP says this gets rid of stifling regulations, but many Democrats worry about a repeat of the 2008 financial meltdown. Discussing Dodd-Frank with 1A guest host Indira Lakshmanan is Rob Tricchinelli, securities and banking reporter at Bloomberg BNA. We'll also hear from author Ibram X. Kendi about looking at the nation's violent past for answers. Kendi is the author of "Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America," which won the National Book Award for Nonfiction in 2016.
