Longtime 11th ward Alderman James Balcer announced he’s stepping down from the City Council after 17 years of service. Former Mayor Daley appointed Alderman Balcer, a Vietnam veteran, to the Southwest Side seat in 1997. He’s currently chairman of the committee on public safety and joins us to discuss his departure and his future. He joins us to talk about his decision.
