Is burlesque stripping? According to the city, the answer is “maybe.” The Department of Business Affairs hasn’t granted a license to the owners of the new Uptown Underground Theater, with the idea they can’t serve alcohol if there’s nudity. The owners are saying their burlesque act isn’t a strip club. And now everyone’s turned the matter over to their lawyers. Today we’re talking about the politics of nudity with the Uptown Underground’s co-owners and long-time producers of the Kiss Kiss Cabaret, Jenn Kincaid and Chris Biddle. Also in studio with us is Alderman James Cappleman, who represents the 46th ward, which includes Uptown.
