Chicago police detective goes to trial for fatally shooting an unarmed woman

The trial begins for a Chicago police detective accused of fatally shooting Rekia Boyd, an unarmed woman on the West Side, in 2012. It comes days after a high-profile shooting death in South Carolina, which has reignited a racially charged debate over police officers’ use of force. WBEZ’s Chip Mitchell has been covering the trial from the Leighton Criminal Courthouse and joins us with more.
