Chicago’s water supply is not an issue yet, but just this weekend, Governor Quinn signed a bill into law that bans plastic microbeads they are disrupting Lake Michigan’s ecosystem. Another issue facing the Great Lakes is pollution. There is a clean water act but some say it doesn’t go far enough to cover smaller lakes and streams, which eventually dump into the Great Lakes or larger bodies of water. One group calling on President Obama to close loopholes in the act and cover streams, tributaries and smaller bodies of water is Chicago based Goose Island Beer.
