It is getting down to the wire to weigh in on new USDA Dietary Guidelines. The period of public input ends on Friday May 8. A major debate this year is whether or not eating less meat is good for your health and the environment. Pro- and anti-meat factions have been duking it out on the public comments page of the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. Recently, a group of meat and dairy alternatives companies (including two from Chicago) added their voice to the thousands of comments that advocate decreasing animal products. Leading that coalition is Oakland-based food attorney Michele Simon who joins us with more.
