Today Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined a coalition of more than 50 environmental, business, labor and faith groups who say state lawmakers need to pass new standards for energy efficiency and renewable energy. The goal is 35 percent of our power coming from renewable energy by 2030 and having 20 percent energy efficiency by 2025. Supporters say this wouldn’t just be good for the environment, but would also add 32,000 new jobs in Illinois each year.
