This week, the legendary Chicago documentary Hoop Dreams is back on the silver screen. The producers are showing a 2014 “remastered” version at the Siskel Center on Saturday. The screening, plus another in Seattle, is meant to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the documentary that followed two inner-city high schoolers who attempted to fulfill their dream of playing in the NBA. Some call Hoop Dreams the best sports ever made, but make no mistake - it’s not about basketball. It’s about life growing up in Chicago, and in many ways, the film highlights some of the same issues that continue to affect communities today. Joining us in studio to talk about the film’s 20th anniversary is Kartemquin film’s Executive Producer and the Executive Producer of Hoop Dreams, Gordon Quinn. Photo Courtesy of WIKIMEDIA
