KCBX has been in the news a lot over the last few months because of its handling of pet coke (short for petroleum coke), a byproduct of the refining of crude oil. The Illinois Attorney General’s office is suing the company for violating environmental laws as it relates to the release of pet coke dust from its far south east side facility. An attorney for the company sat down with WBEZ’s Michael Puente today.
