A large and longstanding provider of mental health care in Chicago has been forced to close its doors. Community Counseling Centers of Chicago — known as C4 — started out as a one-room storefront in the early 70’s. The goal back then was to help psychiatric patients rebuild their lives after time spent in mental hospitals in Uptown and Edgewater. Since then, the organization expanded across the city, providing clinical services and counseling to more than 10,000 people suffering from mental illness, substance abuse, and more.
