Towns in north-central Illinois are still recovering from tornadoes that devastated the area a couple weeks ago. Summerfield Zoo in Belvidere, just east of Rockford, was one place that suffered a direct hit. The storm destroyed three buildings, and killed two animals, an emu and a black swan. The total cost of the wreckage was more than $200,000. But despite the damage, the zoo was able to open on time this weekend, through the help of volunteers. Summerfield’s owner, Tammy Anderson, talks about the community support and their rebuilding efforts.
