Public safety was a big issue during yesterday’s election, especially for many on the South Side. Now that the mayoral race is down to just two, which candidate has the best plan of attack? WBEZ’s Michael Puente dropped by a restaurant in the Chatham neighborhood today and spoke with residents. And, many have cited lingering anger over the mayor’s decision to close 50 schools two years ago. We wondered how much did that decision translate into his lower vote totals yesterday? WBEZ crunched the numbers on how people voted in the wards where schools were closed. WBEZ reporter Monica Eng explains what we found.
