American women who own small businesses still lag far behind their male counterparts when it comes to acquiring loans a Senate report said this morning. Democratic staffers on the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee found that while female-owned firms account for 30 percent of small businesses, they receive only 4.4 percent of the total dollars in small-business loans. That disparity comes out to $1 for women for every $23 loaned to men. Emilia DiMenco, the President and CEO of the Women’s Business Development Center, joins us to discuss.
