Episode 105: Go Outside (with Rahawa Haile, Brother Nature, and Velva Clayton)

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Week, we celebrate nature and the rejuvenating qualities of going outside.  Writer Rahawa Haile talks to us about hiking the Appalachian Trail (yup, the whole damn thing) and Kelvin Peña aka Brother Nature himself describes the origins of his YouTube-famous Deer Squad.  Plus, Tracy's mom Velva stops by the stude to tell us about an infamous family fishing trip.

And come hang with us at our live show in Toronto on October 14th - get tix here!

Episode 85: The Same Stuff as Stars (with Amanda Nguyen)

Episode 85: The Same Stuff as Stars (with Amanda Nguyen)

We never thought we'd do a single episode on both outer space and sexual assault, but that's because we hadn't met activist and aspiring astronaut Amanda Nguyen yet. She founded the organization Rise, to advocate for the rights of survivors of rape.

Did you know that in some states, untested rape kits can be thrown away after 30 days? Amanda tells us how legislation reflects rape culture, and how we can change this. When she's not busy fighting, Amanda is preparing herself for space travel. (Yup!) We talk about who we'd want to beam into the beyond, and remember that even in the darkest of times in this universe, we're never alone because we have each other.

You can find out more about Amanda's organization at www.risenow.us.

Episode 80: A Beautiful Way To Resist

Episode 80: A Beautiful Way To Resist

Trump's Executive Order had so many in the streets this past weekend. With so much on our minds and hearts, we invite friends Ahmed Ali Akbar (host of our sibling podcast See Something Say Something) and Bim Adewunmi, reporter extraordinaire, to chat with us about Muslim identity and resistance.

Plus, an Iranian man whose in-laws were detained at JFK airport walks us through the experience, and a pair of civil rights lawyers offer tips on how you can help if you're feeling helpless.

Follow Ahmed Ali Akbar at @radbrowndads and Bim Adewunmi at @bimadew.  Catch up on episodes of See Something Say Something at buzzfeed.com/seesomethingsaysomething.
