On Wednesday, officials in Gary, Indiana break ground on a $153 million expansion of its airport. Extending one runway by nearly 2,000 feet will allow larger planes to land at the airport. That could be a boon for the long-struggling airport; especially efforts to make Gary/Chicago International the Chicago area’s third major airport.
