Teens from across the region competed last night for the top slot at Young Chicago Authors’ Louder Than a Bomb poetry slam. The winners were the Niles West Team from Skokie with their poen “Wicked.”

The team includes 16-year-old Irfan Qurashi, 17-year-old Noor Hasan, Aris Theotokatos who is 18 and 17-year-old Hera Shakir from Niles West High School in Skokie. They will now move on to represent Chicago at Brave New Voices, a National Youth Poetry Slam and Festival, scheduled to take place later this year.
