A Chicagoan Could Replace Retiring U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter

Today, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments in a case where a family sued their condo association for restricting their religious rights. The court's judge, Diane Wood, is rumored to be one of President Obama's top picks to replace Supreme Court Justice David Souter, and one of many, with Chicago ties. U.S. District Judge Ruben Castillo has made Salon.com's Top 10 list of prospects. In 1994, he became the first Latino federal judge in the state of Illinois. University of Chicago legal scholar Geoffrey Stone has a rundown of the contenders.
