One of the most iconic residential homes in Chicago is the bungalow. Most of the detached, low-rise, single-family homes were built between 1910 and 1940 and the bungalow is the most common type of building in Chicago. Today, they’re still an accessible first home for many.
But in recent decades the housing landscape of Chicago has undergone dramatic changes. So what is the bungalow’s baby sister? Its 21st century equivalent so to speak?
